ECI has established 1,494 polling stations across the district

On October 1, over 12 lakh voters in the Jammu district are ready to exercise their democratic rights as polling takes place in eleven Assembly Constituencies (ACs) during the third and final phase of the Assembly elections. The total voter count stands at 1,200,977, comprising 619,066 males, 581,887 females, and 24 voters identifying as third gender.

To ensure a smooth voting experience, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has established 1,494 polling stations across the district, with 609 in urban areas and 885 in rural regions. Special provisions have been made to promote maximum voter participation, including dedicated polling stations for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), women-managed Pink Polling Stations, youth-led stations, and Green Polling Stations.

Among the eleven constituencies, 74-RS Pura-Jammu South AC boasts the highest number of registered voters, totaling 130,107, which includes 67,322 males, 62,782 females, and 3 transgender voters. This constituency has 149 polling stations—98 urban and 51 rural—to facilitate the voting process.

Following closely is 75-Bahu AC, with 121,131 registered voters (61,963 males, 59,159 females, and 9 third-gender voters) and 139 polling stations—131 urban and 8 rural. The 72-Bishnah (SC) AC comes next, with 119,988 voters (63,385 males, 56,602 females, and 1 third-gender voter), supported by 139 polling stations, comprising 18 urban and 121 rural.

Similarly, the 73-Suchetgarh (SC) AC has 113,449 voters, including 59,727 males, 53,720 females, and 2 transgender voters, with 128 rural polling stations established for efficient voting. 79-Jammu North AC follows with 111,811 voters (57,213 males, 54,595 females, and 3 third-gender voters) and 117 polling stations—87 urban and 30 rural.

76-Jammu East AC has 107,213 voters (54,021 males, 53,189 females, and 3 third-gender voters) with 153 polling stations—131 urban and 22 rural. The 78-Jammu West AC has 106,252 voters, comprising 53,811 males and 52,441 females, with 118 polling stations available.

82-Chhamb AC, with 106,035 voters (54,295 males and 51,740 females), has established 165 polling stations—8 urban and 157 rural. 77-Nagrota AC has 96,007 registered voters (49,735 males and 46,272 females) and 145 rural polling stations. 81-Akhnoor (SC) AC, with 95,386 voters (48,954 males, 46,430 females, and 2 third-gender voters), has 127 polling stations—12 urban and 115 rural.

Finally, the 80-Marh (SC) AC, which has the lowest voter count at 93,598 (48,640 males, 44,957 females, and 1 third-gender voter), includes 114 polling stations—12 urban and 102 rural.

Notably, this election marks a significant moment for 47,963 first-time voters, with 82-Chhamb AC leading with 5,647 new voters and 78-Jammu West AC having the lowest at 2,801. Senior citizens, making up nearly 18% of the electorate, with 215,338 voters aged 60 and above, are expected to play a crucial role in shaping the election outcome. Remarkably, Jammu has 404 centenarians and 6 super-centenarians who have witnessed over 120 years of India’s history.

Authorities are actively conducting voter awareness programs across the district to encourage participation and emphasize the importance of exercising the franchise. All arrangements are in place for a smooth and peaceful polling process on October 1.
