Modi Cabinet reveals list of portfolios allotted to ministers

A day after the swearing-in ceremony Prime Minister Narendra Modi allotted portfolios, retaining top Ministers in the same Ministries. The top four Ministers — Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, and S Jaishankar — have retained their respective Home, Defence, Finance, and External Affairs portfolios, according to an official statement.

Among the new entrants to the Union Cabinet, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been given the Agriculture and Rural Development portfolios, BJP president J P Nadda got Health, Chemicals and Fertilizers portfolios and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar the Power, Housing and Urban Ministries. Nitin Gadkari will continue as Road Transport Minister, while Dharmendra Pradhan will retain his Education portfolio.

Ashwini Vaishnaw retained Railways, Electronics and Information Technology and got new charge of Information and Broadcasting. Jyotiraditya M. Scindia got Communications (Telecommunication & Postal Department) and Development of North Eastern Region Ministry.
