Yogi Adityanath to campaign in Maharashtra amid high octane polls

Maharashtra is gearing up for its Assembly elections, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will be in the state on Tuesday to intensify the Bharatiya Janata Party‘s (BJP) campaign. Adityanath is scheduled to hold three public meetings across Maharashtra, rallying support for several BJP candidates, including Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Adityanath’s first stop will be in Achalpur, where he will address voters in support of BJP candidate Praveen Tayde. He will then proceed to Akola West, where he will campaign for Vijay Kamalkishor Agrawal. The final leg of his tour will take him to Nagpur, where he will hold a rally for Fadnavis, who is contesting from the Nagpur South West constituency. Adityanath will also campaign for other BJP candidates in the Nagpur region, including Mohan Gopalrao Mate (Nagpur South), Krishna Pancham Khopde (Nagpur East), Pravin Prabhakarrao Datke (Nagpur Central), and Milind Pandurang Mane (Nagpur North – SC).

This is part of the BJP’s concerted push to secure a second consecutive term in Maharashtra, with polling scheduled for November 20. Adityanath, who had previously addressed a rally in Washim on November 6, emphasized the importance of securing a majority for the ruling MahaYuti alliance, which consists of the BJP, Shiv Sena (led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde), and Ajit Pawar’s faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

In his earlier address, Adityanath took aim at the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, led by the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and Sharad Pawar’s NCP, calling it the “Maha Anari” (Maha fool). He urged voters to reject the MVA, claiming it failed to deliver on promises during its tenure.

The MahaYuti alliance is contesting 288 seats in the upcoming polls, with the BJP fielding 148 candidates, Shiv Sena contesting 80, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP nominating 53. The remaining seats are allocated to smaller allies within the alliance. Meanwhile, the opposition MVA is also gearing up for a tough battle, as the BJP seeks to consolidate its hold over Maharashtra’s political landscape.

Adityanath is not the only prominent BJP leader on the campaign trail in Maharashtra. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and several other party leaders are scheduled to hold rallies in support of BJP candidates and MahaYuti allies.

Modi has already addressed rallies in Chimur, Solapur, and Pune, while Shah is set to speak in North East Mumbai and Kandivali. Other BJP heavyweights, including Union Ministers Smriti Irani, G Kishan Reddy, Shobha Karandlaje, and Anurag Thakur, will also be addressing meetings across the state. Fadnavis, too, will hold rallies in Dahanu, Vikramgad, Sion Koliwada, and Kalyan.

The elections in Maharashtra will be held in a single phase on November 20, with results to be declared on November 23. With both alliances fiercely contesting every seat, the upcoming polls are seen as a critical battle for the future of the state.
