Centre to announce startups under new National Quantum Mission guidelines

Department of Science and Technology outlines detailed guidelines to assist these startups

The Indian government is set to unveil a new wave of startups selected for support under the National Quantum Mission’s newly established guidelines, marking a significant step towards strengthening India’s position in quantum technologies.

On November 26, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, will announce the startups chosen for their cutting-edge innovations in fields such as quantum communication, computing, sensing, and materials. These startups were selected through a rigorous evaluation process and are expected to play a crucial role in advancing India’s quantum research, development, and commercialization.

The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has outlined detailed guidelines to assist these startups. The framework offers access to critical resources, funding opportunities, mentorship, and infrastructure support, designed to accelerate innovation and address key technological challenges in quantum fields.

Earlier this year, the I-HUB Quantum Technology Foundation, a Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Pune, launched a call for proposals. The response from startups across the country highlights the growing interest and potential for groundbreaking advancements in quantum technologies.

“The National Quantum Mission is committed to nurturing the vibrant startup ecosystem in quantum technology and driving India toward global excellence in this transformative field,” the ministry stated.

Since its launch in April 2023, the National Quantum Mission has garnered strong support, with over 600 scientists and more than 50 startups currently engaged in quantum technology across India.
