Mukesh Ambani, Nita Ambani to attend Donald Trump’s inauguration

Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s richest man, and his wife, Nita Ambani, landed in Washington to attend Donald Trump’s inauguration as the 47th US President on January 20, 2025. However, their attendance comes with a revelation—the Ambanis have reportedly purchased tickets for $1,000,000 (approximately Rs.8.65 crores).

The Ambanis arrived in Washington, D.C., on January 18, two days before the inauguration. Their itinerary includes an exclusive reception and fireworks at the Trump National Golf Club in Virginia, a Cabinet reception, and a Vice President’s dinner. The night before the inauguration, they’ll attend the coveted “candlelight dinner” with President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect J D Vance, alongside elite donors and business leaders.

Trump’s inaugural committee, which has already raised $180 million, is on track to hit $200 million—nearly three times the amount raised for Joe Biden’s 2020 inauguration. Despite reports of tickets selling out and major donors being waitlisted, contributions continue to pour in. Excess funds are expected to support Trump’s future Presidential library.

A few hours ago Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita attended the private reception to congratulate Trump.

Earlier in the morning, the ticket rates for Trump’s Presidential Inauguration were viral on Social Media.

The Ambanis’ visit will include exclusive events such as a reception and fireworks display at Trump National Golf Club, a Cabinet dinner, and a “candlelight dinner” with Trump and Vice President-elect J D Vance. These perks align with benefits outlined in the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee’s donor package, which offers access to top-tier events for contributions of $1 million or more.

Alongside the Ambanis, high-profile attendees like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg will attend the inauguration. Foreign dignitaries, including India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Japan’s Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya, will also attend, reflecting the event’s global significance. However, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not invited for the Presidential Inauguration.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Hungarian PM Viktor Orban, Brazil’s Jair Bolsonaro, El Salvador’s Nayib Bukele, and Argentina’s Javier Milei are attending the function. Donald Trump has personally invited Chinese President Xi Jinping. Trump’s transition spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, described the invitation as part of Trump’s efforts “to create an open dialogue with leaders of countries that are not just our allies but our adversaries and our competitors.” However, reports suggest Xi might send a senior representative, with Vice President Han Zheng or Foreign Minister Wang Yi possibly stepping in for the Chinese leader.

The world’s three richest people – tech entrepreneur and Trump’s most vocal supporter Elon Musk, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Apple chief executive Tim Cook, and chief executive of Facebook’s parent firm Mark Zuckerberg – will have a prominent spot at the ceremony. Other Big Tech executives who will reportedly be in attendance are OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Google chief executive Sundar Pichai, and Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.

Altman, Cook, and Khosrowshahi as well as companies Meta, Amazon, Google, and Uber each reportedly contributed at least USD 1 million to the Trump inaugural fund. The tech companies have a significant stake in Trump’s second term due to potential changes in tax policy, trade policy, and antitrust enforcement.
