Two Pakistani terrorists neutralized along the LoC in J&K’s Poonch

LoC sees firing after a two-year gap in the area

Two heavily armed Pakistani terrorists were gunned down by the alert troops of the Indian Army after foiling a desperate infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Khari Karmara area of Poonch district on Friday.

According to official sources, the Line of Control witnessed firing in the Khari Karmara area after a gap of almost two long years.

The troops deployed in the forward area had observed suspicious movement of heavily armed infiltrators close to the line of control late Thursday evening around 6.30 p.m.

As the troops challenged them to prevent them from sneaking inside the Indian territory firefight started in the area.

The residents living in the direct line of fire in the forward villages remain closeted inside their homes to prevent any loss of life and injury during the heavy exchange of firing.

According to the Nagrota-based White Knight Corps, “the terrorist movement was detected last night at the Line of Control in the Poonch sector”.

Defence spokesman in Jammu said, “Alert troops swiftly engaged the infiltrating terrorists, triggering an intense & heavy firefight. The operation continued through the night, leading to the neutralization of two terrorists. The search of the area thus far has resulted in the recovery of several weapons and war-like stores.

According to official sources, heavily armed infiltrators were attempting to sneak inside the Indian territory taking undue advantage of the forest fires in the forward areas since last week. The heavily armed infiltrators spotted near the Line of Control late Thursday evening had also negotiated the thickly forested area taking advantage of the raging forest fires in the area opposite Khari Karmara sector.

In the run-up to the 76th Republic Day celebrations, alert troops had opened fire to bring down a Pakistani drone that entered the Indian side from across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch. However, the drone returned to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) after hovering briefly over an area near the border fence in the Mendhar sector.
