Suspect confesses to murder of Himani Narwal

The suspect arrested for allegedly murdering Haryana Congress worker Himani Narwal has admitted to the crime during police interrogation. According to sources, the accused, identified as Sachin, revealed that he and Himani had been in a relationship for a considerable period. He was apprehended in Delhi on Monday, two days after Himani’s body was discovered inside a suitcase near a bus stand in Rohtak.

Accused found with victim’s mobile phone

During Sachin’s arrest, police recovered Himani’s mobile phone from his possession. Sachin, a resident of Bahadurgarh in Haryana, alleged that Himani had extorted large sums of money from him and was demanding more. He also accused her of blackmailing him, which, he claimed, led to his frustration and ultimately to the crime.

Details of the murder

Sachin admitted that he killed Himani at her residence in Rohtak due to mounting pressure from her financial demands. Himani, who lived in her ancestral home in Vijay Nagar, gained public attention when images of her walking alongside Congress MP Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra went viral.

Suitcase used to hide the body came from victim’s residence

Police sources reported that the suitcase in which Himani’s body was found belonged to her residence. Sachin confessed that after committing the murder, he placed her body inside the suitcase and abandoned it at the bus stand.

Family demands death penalty for accused

Himani’s family initially refused to perform her last rites until her killers were apprehended. Following Sachin’s arrest, they demanded the death penalty for him.

“One accused has been arrested, and today we will cremate her (Himani Narwal). Many rumors are circulating in the media, but we trust that justice will be served. We want the death penalty for the accused,” said Himani’s brother, Jatin.

Mother alleges political involvement

Himani’s mother, Savita, earlier suggested that the murder might have been an inside job. She speculated that certain Congress leaders were envious of her daughter’s rapid rise within the party. “It could be someone in the party who was jealous of her success, or it could be someone else,” she stated.
