Diljit Dosanjh gets notice from Telangana govt for Dil-Luminati Hyderabad show

Ahead of his highly anticipated Dil-Luminati concert in Hyderabad, Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh has been served a legal notice by the Telangana government. The notice, issued just days before the concert on Friday, directs Dosanjh to refrain from performing any songs that promote alcohol, drugs, or violence.

The notice follows a complaint filed by a Chandigarh-based professor, Panditrao Dharenavar, who cited concerns over the content of Dosanjh’s performances. The professor’s complaint was based on video evidence showing the singer performing songs with controversial themes during a live show at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in October.

According to the notice, issued on November 7 by the District Welfare Officer of Rangareddy, Telangana, the singer is being warned in advance to prevent any such content during the upcoming live performance in Hyderabad. “We are issuing this notice in advance to deter promoting these in your live show,” the notice stated.

Additionally, the notice emphasized concerns over the presence of children at the concert. The Telangana authorities have directed Dosanjh not to bring children on stage during the event, citing health and safety concerns related to loud music.

The notice references guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO), which state that adults should not be exposed to sounds above 140 decibels, while the limit for children is set at 120 decibels.

“Children should not be used on stage during your live show where peak sound pressure is above 120 decibels,” the notice warned, further criticizing concert guidelines that allow children under 13 to attend events with potentially harmful loud sounds and flashing lights.

Diljit Dosanjh, who arrived in Hyderabad on Wednesday, is set to perform at the GMR Arena on Friday at 7 p.m. The concert is expected to draw a crowd of over 20,000 attendees, with police personnel deployed for crowd and traffic control.

However, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty clarified that there are no specific restrictions on the event from the police’s side.
