Not commenting on political context, but slogan “perfectly alright” from an Indian perspective: Dhirendra Shastri

Bageshwar Dham head priest Dhirendra Shastri has extended his support to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath‘s slogan “Batenge to Katenge” which has gained significant traction in the ongoing electoral campaigns in Jharkhand and Maharashtra.

In a press interaction on Friday, Shastri stated that while he would not comment on the political context, he found the slogan “perfectly alright” from an Indian perspective.

“If it is a political issue, I won’t make any comment, but from the Indian perspective, the slogan is very correct. If we get divided, the Chinese will kill us,” he said, stressing the importance of national unity.

Shastri also addressed demographic concerns, claiming that the Hindu population in India is expected to decline from 80% to 60% in the next 20-25 years, while the Muslim population will continue to rise. “Once the Muslim population reaches 50%, there will be a mosque at every Hindu temple in the country,” Shastri added.

He further pointed out that Rohingyas and Muslims from Bangladesh are being provided shelter in India for political gains, particularly to secure a vote bank.

Shastri reiterated his support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan “Ek Rahenge to Safe Rahenge” and expressed concern over the division of Hindus along caste and community lines. He argued that the “Batenge to Katenge” slogan is valid in this context, as it calls for a united Hindu community.

The Assembly elections in Maharashtra are scheduled for November 20, with results to be announced on November 23. As the political battle intensifies, Adityanath’s slogan continues to fuel heated debates across the state.
