Stock ticker to change, Zomato app retains its brand name

Food delivery giant Zomato Ltd is set to rebrand itself as ‘Eternal Ltd‘, following approval from its Board of Directors on February 6, 2025. The change, disclosed in a regulatory filing on Thursday, will now require shareholders’ approval to become official.

Key changes under the new name

  • The Zomato app will retain its name, while the company’s corporate identity and stock ticker will be changed.
  • The new stock ticker will transition from ZOMATO to ETERNAL.
  • Eternal Ltd will encompass four major businesses:
    • Zomato (food delivery)
    • Blinkit (quick commerce)
    • District
    • Hyperpure (B2B food supply chain)

CEO Deepinder Goyal’s statement on the name change

In a letter filed with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Zomato’s CEO and co-founder Deepinder Goyal explained the reasoning behind the rebranding:

“When we acquired Blinkit, we started using ‘Eternal’ internally to distinguish between the company and the brand/app. We also thought we would publicly rename the company to Eternal when something beyond Zomato became a significant driver of our future. With Blinkit, we feel that moment has arrived.”

He further added:

If and when shareholders approve this change, our corporate website will transition from zomato.com to eternal.com. Our stock ticker will also change from ZOMATO to ETERNAL.”

Zomato’s financial performance in Q3FY25

  • Net Profit Decline: Consolidated Profit After Tax (PAT) fell 57% YoY to Rs 59 crore in Q3FY25, compared to Rs 138 crore a year ago.
  • Revenue Growth: Revenues surged 64% YoY to Rs 5,404 crore, up from Rs 3,288 crore in Q3FY24 and Rs 4,799 crore in Q2FY25.
  • Previous Quarter Comparison: Zomato reported Rs 176 crore PAT in Q2FY25, highlighting a sequential decline in profitability.
