Security boost and development initiatives announced for sacred site

In a major security measure, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Trust Board has approved the deployment of anti-drone systems around the Tirumala temple. The initiative is aimed at curbing unauthorized aerial surveillance and ensuring the safety of the large number of pilgrims visiting the temple each year.

The decision was taken during a board meeting held on Tuesday at Annamaiah Bhavan. Following the meeting, TTD Executive Officer Shyamala Rao outlined a series of important resolutions.

Other key decisions by TTD Board

Alongside the anti-drone plan, the TTD Trust Board approved a range of other developmental and administrative measures:

  • Expanding the green cover across Tirumala Hills
  • Creating a detailed Temple Development Master Plan
  • Renaming guest houses for better identification
  • Regulating canteens through licensing
  • Upgrading tourist and sacred spots like Akasa Ganga and Papavinasanam
  • Strengthening facilities at SVIMS Superspeciality Hospital
  • Introducing a transfer and retirement policy specifically for non-Hindu employees
  • Extending Annadanam services in Ontimitta
  • Accelerating the development of the TTD temple at Anantavaram, Thullur Mandal
  • Initiating AI-based technology development within TTD
  • Approving employee promotions
  • Enhancing cattle welfare efforts in the TTD Goshala

Land use policy and sanctity measures

The board reiterated its decision not to allocate lands adjacent to the sacred seven hills to private entities, reinforcing the sanctity of this globally recognized pilgrimage site.

It also confirmed the approval of a land exchange proposal with the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority (APTA). This includes:

  • Swapping 24.68 acres in Peruru village, Tirupati Rural (Survey No. 604), owned by APTA, with an equivalent land parcel (Survey No. 588-A) in Tirupati Urban under TTD ownership.
  • Approving an additional exchange of 10.32 acres between the same parties for the same locations.

The TTD has requested that the Andhra Pradesh government expedite the land exchange process.

Chief Minister’s directives

Earlier in the month, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu directed TTD officials to significantly enhance the quality of services provided to pilgrims. He emphasized that all efforts must focus on maintaining the sanctity of the Tirumala temple and respecting the religious sentiments of devotees.
