Owaisi served notice to avoid inflammatory speech

Asaduddin Owaisi, the controversial leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has once again found himself in the crosshairs of law enforcement, this time in Maharashtra’s Solapur district.

The police served Owaisi a formal notice, warning him to refrain from making inflammatory speeches that could incite communal tensions ahead of the state elections.

The notice was issued during a rally in the Solapur Assembly constituency, where Owaisi was campaigning for AIMIM candidate Farooq Shabdi. While speaking to a large crowd, Owaisi was seen reading the notice while simultaneously taking a call, as if to underscore his apparent disregard for the warning.

The notice, though non-specific, urged Owaisi to avoid making statements that could harm the sentiments of any community and escalate religious divisions.

Owaisi has been a vocal critic of several national issues, including the controversial Waqf Bill 2024 and the Supreme Court’s ruling on property demolitions. Still, his latest remarks have drawn sharp criticism for fanning the flames of division.

In his speeches, Owaisi has repeatedly accused the BJP-led government of using “bulldozer justice” to target marginalized communities, particularly Muslims, by demolishing homes and properties under the guise of anti-encroachment drives.

His inflammatory rhetoric, such as referring to the demolitions as “collective punishment,” has only served to deepen societal divides, portraying a highly skewed and dangerous narrative of victimhood that plays on religious identity. Owaisi’s repeated references to bulldozer demolitions being discriminatory are nothing more than calculated attempts to incite anger and fuel communal hatred.

In a bid to further his political agenda, Owaisi has attempted to depict every government action as a personal attack on the Muslim community, stoking fear and resentment, especially in states like Maharashtra, which has a complex political landscape. His attempts to paint the entire political establishment as biased against Muslims are reckless and irresponsible, given that such statements serve only to alienate communities and sow discord.

This is not the first time Owaisi’s speeches have been scrutinized. Earlier this year, the Election Commission notified him for making allegedly communal statements during an election rally in Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency.

These repeated incidents suggest that Owaisi has made a habit of using inflammatory language to further his political ambitions, often at the expense of peace and harmony.

By playing the card of religious victimhood and glorifying discord, he undermines the very fabric of India’s pluralistic society.
