Miscarriage of justice‘: Trump on Biden pardoning son Hunter

In a sudden announcement on Sunday, US President Joe Biden pardoned his son, Hunter Biden, for gun and tax evasion charges, sparking strong criticism from President-elect Donald Trump called it who labeled the move as an “abuse of power” and a “miscarriage of justice.”

Trump voiced his outrage on Truth Social, questioning, “Does the Pardon given by Joe to Hunter include the J-6 Hostages, who have now been imprisoned for years?” He further called the decision “such an abuse and miscarriage of justice.”

Republican lawmakers react

The pardon triggered swift reactions from Republican lawmakers, who shared their dissatisfaction on social media. Steven Cheung, Trump’s communications director, accused the Democratic administration of weaponizing the justice system, stating, “The failed witch hunts against President Trump have proven that the Democrat-controlled DOJ and other radical prosecutors are guilty of weaponizing the justice system.”

Cheung emphasized the need for reform, adding, “That system of justice must be fixed, and due process must be restored for all Americans, which is exactly what President Trump will do as he returns to the White House with an overwhelming mandate from the American people,” as reported by NBC News.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene also criticized the Biden administration, referencing the FBI raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida over a now-dismissed case of classified documents. On X, Greene wrote, “His FBI and DOJ raided Barron’s bedroom and Melania’s closet at Mar-a-Lago.”

Similarly, Representative Andy Biggs condemned the pardon, stating, “Joe Biden will go down as one of the most corrupt presidents in American history.”

Charges against Hunter Biden

Hunter Biden faced legal troubles earlier this year. In June, he was convicted by a federal jury for lying on a 2018 gun purchase form, falsely claiming he was not using illegal drugs. He illegally possessed the firearm for 11 days while being a drug user, as reported by The Washington Post. In September, he pleaded guilty to nine federal tax charges, further intensifying Republican scrutiny of the Biden family.
