‘Make childless women pregnant, get Rs.10 lakh’: Bihar cops bust unique scam

A bizarre and fraudulent operation promising to make childless women pregnant and offering large sums of money has been busted in Bihar. The police arrested three individuals from Kahuara village in the Nardiganj subdivision of Nawada district for running the scam.

The scam: ‘All India Pregnant Job Service’

The gang operated an elaborate cyber scam under the guise of an ‘All India Pregnant Job Service.’ They lured unsuspecting customers with promises of earning Rs.10 lakh by participating in their program to assist women in getting pregnant. Even in cases of failure, participants were assured compensation between Rs.50,000 and Rs.5 lakh.

Their modus operandi also involved a fake “Playboy Service” advertised on social media platforms like Facebook to attract more victims.

How the scam worked

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Imran Pervez, the scammers advertised their services on Facebook, attracting calls from interested individuals. They would then demand personal details, including PAN cards, Aadhaar cards, and selfies, for “registration.” Victims were further defrauded in the name of hotel bookings and other charges.

Arrests and evidence

The police arrested three suspects, Prince Raj, Bhola Kumar, and Rahul Kumar. Six mobile phones were recovered from them, containing incriminating evidence such as:

  • WhatsApp chats
  • Customers’ photographs
  • Audio recordings
  • Bank transaction details

Police statement

“The gang operated under the guise of legitimate services but blackmailed victims after collecting their personal details and money. They used social media to promote their schemes and ensnare unsuspecting individuals,” said Deputy Superintendent Pervez.

This case highlights the growing threat of cyber fraud and the need for vigilance when dealing with online advertisements and unsolicited offers. The police continue to investigate further links and potential victims of the scam.
