PM highlights historical mistakes, lauds Army and Operation Sindoor at Gujarat event

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 27 strongly connected last month’s Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people in Kashmir, to the 1947 Partition of India, criticizing both the division and the leadership decisions made during that time.

Speaking at a public gathering in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, during an event commemorating 20 years of urban development, Modi said the country would not have suffered 75 years of terrorism had the Indian government acted decisively post-partition.

“When the Partition happened in 1947, the chains should have been cut at that time, but instead, the country was divided into three parts. Soon after, the first terrorist attack was reported in Kashmir, and Pakistan occupied one part of Kashmir,” Modi said.

Criticism of historic leadership, praise for Sardar Patel

In a pointed reference to the Congress party and Jawaharlal Nehru, Modi highlighted that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s advice to reclaim Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) was ignored.

If on that day, these Mujahideens were killed, if Sardar Patel’s wish had been heeded, and our forces moved till we got PoK, we wouldn’t have endured 75 years of terrorism,” he said.

Operation Sindoor: India’s assertive response

Modi linked the recent Pahalgam attack to India’s retaliatory Operation Sindoor, in which Indian Forces conducted precision strikes on at least nine terror camps in Pakistan on May 7. This was followed by four days of military action, ending in a ceasefire on May 10.

The Prime Minister noted that India’s Armed Forces have repeatedly defeated Pakistan in wars, pushing them toward proxy warfare through state-supported terrorism.

Whenever we went to war, our forces defeated them in a way they never forgot. Now, Pakistan cannot win directly, so they resort to training and backing terrorists,” he stated.

He emphasized that Pakistan’s public military honors for terrorists killed post-May 6 disprove claims of a “proxy war” and confirm a state-sponsored war strategy.

You are already at war, and you will receive the response accordingly,” Modi warned.

India’s economic rise and vision for 2047

Switching to economic progress, PM Modi recalled India’s ascent from the 11th to the 4th largest economy since he assumed office in 2014.

We have surpassed the very nation that ruled over us for 250 years. Now our goal is to become the third-largest economy, and eventually a developed nation by 2047,” he said.

He concluded with a call to national ambition and optimism, stating:

This country no longer wants to wait. And if anyone suggests we should be patient, voices rise to say, ‘Modi hai to mumkin hai’.”
