India emerging as ray of hope amid global uncertainty, says PM Modi at NDTV World Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a powerful address on Monday at the NDTV World Summit, asserting that India is not just a developing nation but an emerging global power. Speaking at the two-day event, he emphasized the country’s dual identity and its role as a beacon of hope amid global instability.

During his speech, PM Modi reiterated the government’s commitment to achieving the ambitious “Viksit Bharat 2047” resolution, aimed at transforming India into a developed nation within the next 25 years. He stated, “There is no rest and relaxation on the path to achieving a developed India.” Modi expressed a sense of urgency, stating that despite significant milestones, including India becoming the fifth-largest economy in the world, more work lies ahead.

Reflecting on the achievements of his government over the last decade, he highlighted the construction of 12 crore toilets and the provision of 16 crore gas connections but emphasized that these accomplishments are just the beginning. “This is not enough. Today, India is one of the youngest countries in the world, and our potential will take us to new heights,” he noted.

Focusing on the importance of future aspirations, Modi said, “For us, success isn’t measured by what we’ve achieved, but by what we will achieve and when.” He called for a forward-looking approach, stating that the Viksit Bharat resolution requires collective effort and innovative strategies.

The Prime Minister also underscored India’s resilience in the face of global challenges, including the pandemic and inflation. “In the midst of global instability, India is a ray of hope. While we are affected by global concerns, there is a strong sense of positivity within the country,” he affirmed.

Highlighting the accomplishments of his government in its third term, Modi outlined several key initiatives launched in the first 125 days. He announced that three crore new houses for the poor have been approved, infrastructure projects worth Rs.9 lakh crore have commenced, and 15 new Vande Bharat trains have been introduced. Additionally, he mentioned that eight new airports are currently under construction.

The Prime Minister detailed the direct benefits delivered to various sectors, stating that Rs.2 lakh crore has been allocated for youth initiatives and Rs.21,000 crore transferred directly to farmers’ bank accounts. He also introduced a healthcare scheme providing Rs.5 lakh in free medical coverage for senior citizens over 70.

On renewable energy, Modi reported significant strides, including the installation of rooftop solar panels in nearly 5 lakh homes and the planting of 90 crore trees under the “Ek Ped Maa Naam” campaign. He also noted the increase in foreign exchange reserves, which have risen from $650 billion to over $700 billion.

Addressing the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Modi presented India’s “double AI” advantage, combining advanced technology with the aspirations of its youth. “The world’s future is connected to AI. However, while the world has Artificial Intelligence, India has Aspirational India. When these two merge, the pace of development accelerates,” he explained.

He introduced the India AI Mission, aimed at integrating AI across various sectors, including healthcare and infrastructure, and stressed the importance of providing innovative solutions to global challenges.

Following PM Modi’s address, notable global leaders—including Bhutan PM Tshering Tobgay, Barbados PM Mia Mottley, and former UK Prime Minister David Cameron—are set to engage in discussions on pressing global issues, underscoring the summit’s significance in shaping international dialogue.

As India continues its journey towards becoming a developed nation, PM Modi’s vision and commitment to a resilient and aspirational future resonate strongly on the global stage.
