Yogi govt boosts security for Maha Kumbh 2025

As preparations ramp up for Maha Kumbh 2025, scheduled to take place in Prayagraj in January, the Uttar Pradesh government has significantly bolstered security measures. Over 6,000 Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel have been deployed throughout the city and along the riverbanks to ensure the safety of millions of devotees expected to attend.

In addition to the PAC personnel, 10 flood companies will be stationed along the rivers to further enhance safety protocols. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the UP Police has initiated an intensive training program known as ‘Sankalp Training Pandal’ at Parade Ground in Prayagraj.

This program, which operates under the motto “Surakhsha Aapki, Sankalp Humara,” aims not only to ensure security but also to foster soft skills and gender sensitization among police personnel.

The first phase of this training involves two batches over a span of 21 days and will continue until December. It emphasizes polite interactions with devotees, assisting them with directions, transport, parking, and accommodations. Special focus is being given to interactions with sadhus and sanyasis attending the fair.

Moreover, police officers are receiving training in the use of AI technology and the Bhashini app, which can translate multiple languages, facilitating effective communication with foreign tourists and visitors from across the country. The introduction of chatbot technology will also provide real-time assistance to devotees.

Maha Kumbh is set to commence on January 13 and will last for 45 days, attracting millions of pilgrims to Prayagraj. Extensive infrastructure developments are underway, including the construction of railway overbridges and road widening projects, aimed at managing the influx of devotees.

Transport plans for the event are robust, with approximately 7,000 buses scheduled for deployment statewide. In the Varanasi region alone, 320 buses, including 35 Janrath AC buses, will operate to ensure smooth travel for pilgrims. Additional services will be activated as necessary, with buses running 24 hours a day to accommodate the expected crowds.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed authorities to pay special attention to all aspects of the event, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for the millions who will participate in this significant religious gathering.
