An uneasy calm prevailed in Pahalgam early Wednesday morning, even as security forces were combing the thickly forested area to hunt down the perpetrators responsible for killing 26 tourists and injuring 17 others on Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed across different parts of Jammu and Kashmir, including both the capital cities of Srinagar and Jammu, in protest against the Pahalgam terror attack.

In the North Kashmir area of Uri sector, alert troops of the Indian Army on Wednesday neutralised two Pakistani terrorists while they were attempting to infiltrate into the Indian territory.

The security forces have recovered an IED, 2 AK Rifles and a pistol from these infiltrators.
