Book Launch of Whispers of the Divine Celebrated at House of Lords, London

London, 9 June 2025 — Nepal Centre International marked a significant cultural milestone with the launch of Whispers of the Divine, a unique book blending contemporary Paubha painting by artist Saziv Shakya and evocative poetry by Nirmal Kumar Thapa. The event was held at the House of Lords in London, drawing dignitaries, writers, artists, and well-wishers of Nepali culture and literature.

Baroness Verma, speaking at the occasion, commended the initiative, stating that it is encouraging to see how committed individuals like Nirmal Kumar Thapa are promoting Nepal in the UK and globally through various forms of art, culture, and literature.

Dr Sangita Swechcha, Founder Member and Coordinator of Nepal Centre International, reflected on the organisation’s journey. She also highlighted its recent milestones and reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to promoting Nepali art, literature, and culture on the global stage.

The event included remarks from several other distinguished speakers who praised Nirmal Kumar Thapa’s efforts and the continued work of Nepal Centre International. Among them were Manish Tiwari, spokesperson for Nepal Centre; writer Parveen Smith; Britrise Chair Raisa Ambros; Manoj Sharma, a founding member of Nepal Centre UK; and Rabindra Jung Lamichhane, Managing Director of Gini London.

In his address, Nirmal Kumar Thapa extended heartfelt thanks to the Members of the House of Lords, esteemed colleagues, passionate supporters of art and literature, and dear friends of Nepal and the Nepal Centre for joining the celebration. He added a special note of gratitude to Britrise Community, Here and Now 365, and Gini London for their generous support and collaboration in making the book launch a reality.

Whispers of the Divine represents not only an artistic achievement but also a shared cultural bridge between Nepal and the global community. This launch continues Nepal Centre International’s mission to elevate Nepali voices and creative expression around the world.
