PM Modi in Varanasi today to unveil Rs.6,611 crore Diwali gift, inaugurate multiple projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi on Sunday, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for 23 projects valued at over Rs.6,611 crore.

Several other projects in health, education, sports, religion, tourism, and housing will also be inaugurated during his visit.

In a post on social media platform X, Modi expressed his commitment to improving the lives of the people in Kashi, stating, “My government is dedicated to making life easier for all brothers and sisters in Kashi, the city of Baba Vishwanath, as well as across the country.” He confirmed that at around 2 p.m., he will inaugurate the RJ Sankara Eye Hospital, built at Rs.90 crore, in the presence of Shankaracharya Swami Vijayendra Saraswati.

In addition to the eye hospital, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation for the expansion of Varanasi Airport and the construction of a new terminal building.

Modi is expected to announce a new free food program initiated by the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust, in collaboration with Natyakotam Sanstha. This initiative aims to provide meals to students from 16 Sanskrit schools and attendants at three hospitals. A successful trial of the “Satvik Sanatan Kitchen” was conducted in the Annakshetra area, benefiting around 3,000 people, with plans to expand to 5,000 beneficiaries.

Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and other senior leaders will accompany the Prime Minister during the event. Modi is set to arrive in Varanasi around 1 p.m. and will depart for Delhi by 6 p.m. Upon arrival, he will be welcomed by the Governor and Chief Minister Adityanath, along with Deputy Chief Ministers and top ministers.

Dilip Patel, President of the BJP’s Kashi region, mentioned that the Prime Minister will receive a grand welcome with drums and flowers throughout the city. Ahead of his visit, several hoardings featuring Modi were erected in Varanasi, including one depicting him with ten hands, symbolizing various government schemes.

After arriving at Babatpur International Airport, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Shankara Eye Hospital and then proceed to Sigra Sports Complex, where he will lay the foundation stones for additional projects, including the Rs.380.13 crore Sigra Stadium. Modi will also address a gathering of athletes, intellectuals, public representatives, and BJP workers at the stadium.

In total, aside from the eye hospital and stadium, 14 other projects will be dedicated to the public, and foundations for two significant schemes costing Rs.2,874.17 crore will also be laid.
