Baba Siddique murder case: Mumbai Police nab accused from Punjab

In a significant breakthrough, Mumbai Police, in collaboration with Punjab Police, apprehended Sujit Sushil Singh, a resident of Ghatkopar, Mumbai, who is wanted in the high-profile murder of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique from Punjab’s Ludhiana.

Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav announced the arrest on Saturday, detailing Singh’s involvement in the conspiracy.

Yadav stated that Singh was informed three days prior to the assassination plan by Nitin Gautam Sapre, another accused, and provided logistical support for the crime. Following the arrest, Singh has been handed over to Mumbai Police for further investigation.

“This joint operation underscores our commitment to seamless cooperation between @PunjabPoliceInd and @MumbaiPolice. It demonstrates our dedication to public safety and justice, reinforcing security across state lines,” Yadav added.

This development comes on the heels of a separate operation by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell, which arrested seven suspected shooters linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, known for its violent activities. The suspects were reportedly plotting an attack in Rajasthan, following directives from Arzoo Bishnoi, a close associate of the jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

Police have stated that investigations into the Siddique murder revealed that four firearms were used in the assassination. The recent recovery of a fourth weapon raises further questions about the circumstances surrounding this high-profile case.

Baba Siddique was shot dead on October 12 near his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Nirmal Nagar, Bandra East, shocking the political landscape in Maharashtra. As investigations continue, authorities are probing potential links between the arrested gang members and the assassination, emphasizing their determination to bring those responsible to justice.
