Celebi asked to hand over facilities at Mumbai and Ahmedabad airports

Adani Airport Holdings announced on Thursday the termination of ground handling concession agreements with Turkish aviation company Celebi for Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) and Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA).

The termination follows the Union government’s decision to revoke Celebi’s security clearance, prompting Adani to take immediate action to ensure uninterrupted airport operations.

Seamless operations assured

A spokesperson for Adani Airport Holdings confirmed the development, stating,
“Following the government of India’s decision to revoke Celebi’s security clearance, we have terminated the ground handling concession agreements with Celebi at CSMIA and SVPIA. Accordingly, Celebi has been directed to immediately hand over to us all ground handling facilities to ensure uninterrupted operations.”

The company emphasized that ground handling services at both airports will continue smoothly through new agencies appointed by Adani.

Transition of employees ensured

To minimize operational disruption and protect employee interests, Adani Airport Holdings assured that all existing Celebi employees at the affected airports would be transferred to the newly selected ground handling agencies. These employees will retain their current terms and conditions of employment.

Commitment to service and national interest

Reiterating its focus on operational excellence, Adani stated, “Ground handling operations at our airports will remain unaffected. We are fully committed to upholding the highest standards of service and national interest.”

Bengaluru airport ends ties with Celebi

In another blow for Celebi Airport Services, the Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) said that it has transitioned its ground handling operations from Celebi Airport Services to other existing service providers.

The airport made the announcement a day after a national security directive from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).

Adani Airport Holdings operates not only Mumbai and Ahmedabad airports but also manages airports in Mangalore, Guwahati, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Thiruvananthapuram.
