Pakistan’s attempt to disrupt Indian delegation’s Malaysia visit fails; full diplomatic support received
Pakistan urged Malaysia to cancel the visit of Indian MPs, citing Islamic solidarity, but Malaysia rejected the request and allowed all scheduled programs of the Indian delegation to proceed as planned

Pakistan’s interference rejected by Malaysia

In a significant diplomatic setback for Islamabad, Pakistan‘s attempt to derail an Indian parliamentary delegation’s visit to Malaysia was firmly rejected by the Malaysian government, according to sources. Pakistan’s embassy in Malaysia reportedly requested that local officials cancel the delegation’s engagements, citing Islamic solidarity, but the appeal was dismissed.

As a result, the Indian delegation completed all scheduled activities without disruption, receiving full cooperation from Malaysian authorities. The move is being seen as a diplomatic snub to Pakistan.

Delegation details and objectives

The Indian delegation was led by Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Jha and included:

  • BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, Pradan Baruah, and Hemang Joshi
  • Trinamool Congress’s Abhishek Banerjee
  • CPM’s John Brittas
  • Congress’s Salman Khurshid
  • Former diplomat Mohan Kumar

Pakistan had attempted to derail the visit by raising the Kashmir issue, but its arguments reportedly failed to gain traction in Kuala Lumpur.

Multi-nation outreach campaign

Apart from Malaysia, the delegation also visited Indonesia, South Korea, Japan, and Singapore. Their mission was part of a broader initiative to:

  • Expose Pakistan’s role in terrorist attacks on Indian soil, especially after the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 27 people
  • Promote India’s perspective on Operation Sindoor, the counterstrike that targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir
  • Garner international condemnation of terrorism and support for India’s position

Statements from delegation members

Sanjay Jha said, “Our visit conveyed that India stands united against terrorism. Global leaders condemned the Pahalgam attack and appreciated India’s restrained and precise counterterrorism measures. We also called for FATF action against Pakistan.”

CPM’s John Brittas added, “Our goal was to build global awareness and urge other nations to back India’s fight against terror.”

BJP’s Aparajita Sarangi said, “After visiting five countries over 14 days, it’s clear that the world supports India and strongly condemns terrorism.”
