PM Modi to attend QUAD Summit hosted by Biden in US

US President Joe Biden is set to host the fourth in-person QUAD Leaders Summit in Wilmington, Delaware, on September 21. The White House announced on Thursday that President Biden would welcome Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of Australia, and Prime Minister Kishida Fumio of Japan.

This summit will mark President Biden’s first time hosting foreign leaders in Wilmington, underscoring his personal connections with the QUAD leaders and the significance of the QUAD partnership. The focus of the summit will be on strengthening strategic convergence among the QUAD nations and advancing a shared vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre emphasized the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to the QUAD, noting that it has become a top priority since the inaugural QUAD Leaders Summit at the White House in 2021. “The Biden-Harris Administration has prioritized elevating and institutionalizing the QUAD, with annual summits reflecting our ongoing dedication,” Jean-Pierre said.

The QUAD, which includes Australia, India, Japan, and the United States, is a diplomatic partnership aimed at enhancing cooperation in various critical areas. The upcoming summit will address key issues such as health security, natural disaster response, maritime security, infrastructure development, emerging technologies, climate and clean energy, and cybersecurity.

Following the Delaware Summit, the next QUAD Leaders Summit is scheduled to be hosted by India.
