Prime Minister Narendra Modi will energize his party’s campaign on Saturday with a landmark rally in Jammu and Kashmir‘s Doda district, surrounded by robust security measures. This historic event will mark the first visit by a Prime Minister to Doda in 42 years, since 1982.

A multi-layered security presence will be in place across the Doda and Kishtwar districts, ensuring the rally at the Doda stadium proceeds smoothly and safely. Union Coal and Mines Minister and BJP election in-charge for Jammu & Kashmir, G Kishan Reddy, emphasized the significance of this visit, noting it as a rare and important occasion.

The rally is poised to invigorate BJP supporters and candidates ahead of the Assembly elections for eight seats in the Chenab Valley — Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban — scheduled for September 18. Since PM Modi’s last address in Kishtwar during the 2014 Assembly elections, the people of Doda have eagerly anticipated his return.

The visit is expected to greatly enhance the BJP’s electoral prospects in Jammu and Kashmir. The party is contesting all 43 Assembly seats in the Jammu division, where it previously secured 25 seats. This Assembly election, the first in a decade and following the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, will be held in three phases on September 18, September 25, and October 1, with vote counting on October 8.

The BJP’s stronghold in Jammu is well-established, with a sweep of 25 seats in the 2014 elections. Recent rallies by Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Jammu and Ramban districts further underscore the party’s commitment to this pivotal election.
