UP CM Yogi Adityanath warns amidst the backdrop of chaos and unrest in Bangladesh

On Monday, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, made a strong pitch for unity among citizens and said that this will not only ensure their well-being but will also lead to the country’s empowerment. He asserted that cohesive citizenry is crucial for both individual well-being and national empowerment.

Yogi Adityanath said, “Batenge to katenge, ek rahenge toh nek rahenge (If we get divided, we will be shredded. If we stay together, we will be safe).”

“By standing together, we will reach new heights of success and prosperity. We have to attain new territories of growth, we have to work towards the realization of the Viksit Bharat,” CM Yogi said.

The remarks come in the context of ongoing chaos and violence in neighboring Bangladesh, which has been plagued by riots and unrest for months.

Adityanath emphasized that unity within the country is essential for stability and progress, highlighting the stark contrast with the current situation in Bangladesh.

Addressing an event in Agra, Yogi Adityanath said, “There is nothing bigger than the country. It overcomes everything. The nation can become powerful only when we stay united. Then only, we can remain safe. If we allow division among us, we will be destroyed. See the example of Bangladesh. That mistake shouldn’t be repeated here.”

Notably, the Chief Minister, on previous occasions, also questioned the Congress-led I.N.D.I.A bloc’s ‘silence’ on the humiliation and subjugation of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh.

Speaking in Mathura, a day ago, he berated the Opposition parties for being outspoken on the Palestinian crisis but staying mum on the persecution of Hindus and also demolition of temples in violence-hit Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh chaos

Recent turmoil in Bangladesh has led to severe attacks on Hindu communities following a wave of student riots that resulted in the ouster of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her abrupt escape from the country.

In the ensuing chaos, Hindu temples and homes were targeted by violent mobs, who vandalized properties and desecrated religious sites. The Hindu minority, comprising about 8% of the population, has faced significant persecution amid the country’s descent into disorder. Reports indicate that these attacks continued even after the interim government, led by Nobel laureate Mohammad Younus, assumed control.
