Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has proposed a new peace treaty to Azerbaijan, building on the ongoing negotiations between the two nations. This proposal, revealed during a press conference on Saturday, includes 17 articles, with 13—including the preamble—already agreed upon.
The treaty aims to address long-standing issues stemming from the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which has seen intermittent clashes despite a 1994 ceasefire. Pashinyan suggested a direct meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, where delimitation commissions are active, to further progress the discussions.
Pashinyan reaffirmed Armenia‘s commitment to the ceasefire but expressed concerns over inconsistent statements from some Russian partners, which he believes have hindered regional connectivity efforts. He reiterated Armenia’s readiness to facilitate a link between Nakhchivan and Azerbaijan while maintaining that territorial integrity and sovereignty remain non-negotiable.
