Chargesheet confirms Kannada Superstar Darshan’s role in Renukaswamy murder case

In a significant development in the fan murder case, the 4,800-page police chargesheet, set to be submitted on Wednesday, has confirmed the involvement of jailed Kannada superstar Darshan Thoogudeepa in the crime, according to sources.

The comprehensive chargesheet, which will be presented to the 24th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court, details the roles of Darshan, his partner Pavithra Gowda, and 15 associates. The document outlines various charges including conspiracy, planning, kidnapping, torture, murder, and destruction of evidence.

According to the chargesheet, Darshan and Gowda are implicated in orchestrating the murder of Renukaswamy, a fan of Darshan. The document also highlights attempts to mislead the investigation, noting that Darshan allegedly arranged for four of his associates to surrender to the police in a bid to obscure the true nature of the crime.

The case has attracted significant attention, and the chargesheet’s submission is expected to intensify scrutiny and legal proceedings surrounding the high-profile case.

Renukaswamy was murdered as he had allegedly sent offensive messages to Pavithra.

The extensive 4,800-page chargesheet in the fan murder case, set for submission on Wednesday, reveals critical details implicating Kannada superstar Darshan Thoogudeepa. The chargesheet includes the statement of an accused who has agreed to become an approver. This statement provides a comprehensive account of Darshan’s role and involvement, as well as that of his associates in the crime.

The chargesheet indicates that the police have matched CCTV footage of the accused with the crime scene and verified that phone calls and messages exchanged among the accused align with the timing of the murder. Crucially, forensic evidence from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) confirms blood stains on Darshan’s clothes, linking him directly to the crime.

Police have retrieved messages from Darshan’s phone that show he was informed when Renukaswamy, the victim, was brought to the shed where the assault took place. A photograph of Renukaswamy sent to Darshan has also been recovered. Additional CCTV footage shows Darshan leaving a pub, arriving at the shed in the Rajarajeshwari Nagar area, and returning to the pub after the assault. The footage also includes evidence of Darshan going to his residence to change clothes.

The investigation has recorded statements from 24 witnesses and recovered photos from the mobile phone of one of the accused, Pradush. Statements from four other accused, who were persuaded by Darshan and his gang to surrender and take responsibility for the murder, have also been obtained. The police allege that these individuals were lured with promises of money and protection.

In Ballary jail, where Darshan is currently detained, sources report he has been restless, unable to sleep, and engaged in prayer and yoga. Darshan’s judicial custody has been extended until September 9. He faces additional scrutiny due to three new cases related to alleged luxury treatment in Bengaluru Central Prison. A controversial photo showing Darshan in a relaxed pose with a coffee mug and cigarette, alongside notorious criminal Wilson Garden Naga, led to the suspension of nine police officers and the filing of three FIRs. The photo, circulated to intimidate witnesses, has exacerbated the controversy.

The murder of Renukaswamy occurred on June 8 in Bengaluru. After being kidnapped from his hometown of Chitradurga, Renukaswamy was brought to Bengaluru, tortured, and ultimately killed. His body was discarded in a canal and discovered by security personnel at a private apartment building.
