The Uttar Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has announced the procurement of 120 electric buses to bolster public transport across several key cities in the state. This initiative aims to improve urban mobility and promote environmentally friendly transportation.

The new electric buses will be deployed in Lucknow, Aligarh, Moradabad, Ayodhya, and Gorakhpur, complementing the existing fleet of 100 buses operated by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC).

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to modernize public transportation in the state.

The tender process for these electric buses is set to commence soon, marking a significant step toward the expansion of sustainable public transport in Uttar Pradesh. This initiative not only aims to enhance connectivity but also reflects the government’s commitment to reducing the carbon footprint and promoting clean energy solutions in public transportation.

According to Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh, each of the five cities will receive a specific number of buses: Aligarh and Moradabad will each get 30 buses, while Lucknow, Ayodhya, and Gorakhpur will have 20 buses each.

• Aligarh Region: The electric buses will service various routes, including:
  • 10 buses on the Aligarh-Noida via Jewar route
  • 4 on the Aligarh-Ballabgarh-Faridabad route
  • 4 on the Aligarh-Mathura route
  • 8 on the Aligarh-Kaushambi via Khurja route
  • 4 on the Aligarh-Dibai-Anupshahr-Sambhal-Moradabad route
• Moradabad Region: The deployment includes:
  • 10 buses on the Moradabad-Kaushambi route
  • 6 on the Moradabad-Meerut route
  • 4 on the Moradabad-Najibabad Kotdwar route
  • 2 on the Kathghar-Bareilly route
  • 4 on the Kathghar-Haldwani route
  • 2 on the Kathghar-Aligarh route
  • 2 on the Kathghar-Ramnagar route
• Lucknow Region: Here, 20 electric buses will operate on the New Barabanki Station-Awadh Bus Station route.
• Ayodhya Region: The buses will serve several routes, including:
  • 4 on the Ayodhya-Lucknow route
  • 4 on the Ayodhya-Gorakhpur route
  • 6 on the Ayodhya-Prayagraj-Gonda route
  • 6 on the Ayodhya-Sultanpur-Varanasi route
• Gorakhpur Region: The operational plans include:
  • 3 buses on the Gorakhpur-Azamgarh-Varanasi route
  • 3 on the Gorakhpur-Ghazipur-Varanasi route
  • 4 on the Gorakhpur-Ayodhya route
  • 4 on the Gorakhpur-Sonauli route
  • 2 on the Gorakhpur-Maharajganj-Thuthibari route
  • 1 on both Gorakhpur-Siddharthnagar and Gorakhpur-Padrauna routes
  • 2 on the Gorakhpur-Tamkuhi route
