The appointment of Dilip Mandal put on hold

Due to massive protests from right-wingers (RWs), the Narendra Modi government has put on hold the appointment of serial Hindutwa abuser Dilip Mandal as Media Advisor. According to senior Information and Broadcasting Ministry officials, Dilip Mandal’s contract to join as Media Advisor was on August 20, and due to widespread protest the appointment was put on hold. Many BJP insiders say Mandal started pro-Dalit narrative-building deals with BJP during the Karnataka Assembly election season in April 2023 and payments were routed through firms linked to him.

Many BJP insiders say none other than Union Home Minister Amit Shah was supporting the deals in bringing such turncoats. They say Dilip Mandal’s entry was blessed by Amit Shah. Dilip Mandal is believed to have floated a firm in the USA, where his son is parked for studying purposes. Though the government has put his appointment as Media Advisor on hold, it is heard that the party is OK with paid narrative and public relations exercises through him and payments were routed through firms linked to him.

Dilip Mandal is in the paid Social Media narrative building and PR exercise business. His deals were not materialized with DMK, BSP, and Congress. His deals clinched with BJP during the Karnataka Assembly election in mid-2023 to create BJP favouring Dalit narratives. From this point onwards BJP was engaging him through surrogate ways. His cover was broken after he was appointed as a Media Advisor in the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.

For the past few days, RWs have been venting their anger and protesting on the appointment of serial Hindutwa abuser Dilip Mandal as Media Advisor by the Narendra Modi government. Former Journalist of India Today Magazine’s Hindi version, who claims a Professor from an unknown University is actually engaged in a paid narrative-building exercise in Social Media. His job was to represent and do Public Relations work for the government in TV debates and writing articles, said senior officials. Creating pro-Dalit narratives in Social Media in favour of the government is also his job, they added.

Dilip Mandal is a crazy and abusive troller on Social Media with fake and misinformation peddling posing as a Dalit activist, though he belongs to the OBC caste. Some say he belongs to the Jaiswal caste and not from the Mandal caste. He was notorious for paid PR narratives, and peddling misinformation and abusing Brahmins. He invited controversies by posting graphics of Pig of wearing Janayu Thread, a sacred thread used by Brahmins. He also made abusive comments against top RSS leaders.[1]

So now Dilip Mandal is out from the Information & Broadcasting Ministry but will continue with his Paid Narrative Building, PR Exercise & Supari business in Social Media and will earn payments through the firms linked to him.
