Tirupati Laddu controversy: YSRCP empathizes that the matter deserves the oversight of SC

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has demanded a Supreme Court-monitored investigation into allegations of adulteration concerning the famed Tirupati Laddu, asserting that an inquiry by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) would not suffice to uncover the truth.

Former Minister Ambati Rambabu criticized Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for making unfounded accusations regarding the Laddu Prasadam. Speaking to reporters in Guntur, Rambabu dismissed Naidu’s decision to initiate an inquiry led by a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) as laughable and inadequate. He emphasized that the matter deserves the oversight of the Supreme Court.

Rambabu also condemned Naidu’s remarks directed at the wife of former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) chairman Y V Subba Reddy, labeling them as baseless and intended to sow religious discord.

Additionally, Rambabu expressed skepticism about Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan‘s recent “penance” fast, questioning why there was no uproar during the demolition of temples under the previous TDP government and why no action had been taken against a Jana Sena MLA accused of assaulting a Dalit professor.

He ridiculed the government’s claims of conducting a purification ritual, asking where the Laddu had allegedly been desecrated and if adulterated ghee had indeed been used. Rambabu challenged both Naidu and Kalyan to agree to a Supreme Court-monitored inquiry into the Laddu issue, as senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy suggested.
