Iran trying to kill Donald Trump, in a bid to sow chaos in US, campaign alleges

US Intelligence agencies have alerted former President Donald Trump about a “real and specific” threat to his life allegedly originating from Iran, aimed at sowing chaos within the United States, according to Steven Cheung, Trump’s Campaign Communications Director.

Cheung disclosed that two apparent assassination attempts have been made on the 78-year-old Republican presidential candidate in recent months. He stated, “Former President Trump was briefed earlier today by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence regarding these threats, which are intended to destabilize and create chaos in the country.”

Intelligence officials have reportedly identified these “continued and coordinated” attacks as having increased in frequency over the past few months. Law enforcement agencies are working diligently to ensure Trump’s safety and to safeguard the integrity of the upcoming November election.

The first assassination attempt occurred on July 13 during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a bullet narrowly grazed Trump’s ear. The second incident took place on September 15 at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, where 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh was apprehended with a firearm outside the venue. Routh has since been formally charged with attempting to assassinate a major presidential candidate.

Cheung emphasized the perceived advantage Iran sees in the current administration, stating, “Make no mistake, the terror regime in Iran loves the weakness of Kamala Harris and is terrified of the strength and resolve of President Trump. He will let nothing stop him or get in his way to fight for the American people and to Make America Great Again.”

The presidential elections are set to take place on November 5, with Trump facing off against Democratic Party candidate Vice President Kamala Harris. As the campaign intensifies, concerns over security and foreign interference loom large.

Reacting to the alert by intelligence Donald Trump said there were “big threats” on his life posed by Iran after the Republican presidential candidate’s campaign team said US intelligence warned him of “real and specific” threats from Tehran.

“Big threats on my life by Iran. The entire US Military is watching and waiting,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

“Moves were already made by Iran that didn’t work out, but they will try again. … I am surrounded by more men, guns, and weapons than I have ever seen before,” he said, following increased scrutiny of the US Secret Service since two attempts on Trump’s life this year.

It was not immediately clear if the threats referred to by the campaign and Trump himself were new or threats that had previously been reported.

US intelligence agencies have also accused Iran of a hack targeting Trump’s campaign, alleging Tehran is seeking to influence the 2024 election.

The Iranian government did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but Tehran has previously denied US claims of interfering in American affairs.
