BSF foils infiltration attempt in Jammu’s RS Pura Sector

Alert BSF troops foil infiltration bid by armed terrorists along IB in Jammu; recover weapons

The Border Security Force (BSF) successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt in the RS Pura Sector of Jammu district, recovering a substantial cache of arms and ammunition in the process. The incident occurred during the night of September 21-22, when vigilant BSF troops detected suspicious movement near the border.

According to a statement from the BSF, “The alert troops noticed an intruder approaching the BSF fence in the RS Pura area and swiftly thwarted the infiltration attempt.” A thorough search operation was conducted at first light, leading to the recovery of significant weaponry, including two pistols, two magazines, twenty 9mm rounds, one AK rifle, two additional magazines, and 17 rounds of ammunition.

In light of the ongoing Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, security measures have been intensified along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border. With one phase of the three-phase elections already completed and two more scheduled, counting will take place on October 8.

Recent weeks have seen a series of encounters between terrorists and security forces across Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the elimination of several terrorists and their commanders.

There are concerns that Pakistan is escalating infiltration attempts ahead of winter, seeking to send weapons across the border before snowfall closes mountain passes.

The BSF has also reported instances of drone activity, with weapons being dropped from Pakistan near the International Border. The force has successfully intercepted multiple weapon caches in recent months, disrupting the plans of terrorists and their handlers.

As infiltration attempts rise, the security landscape is changing, with terrorist activities spreading to areas previously considered relatively safe, such as the Chenab Valley, Udhampur, and Kathua. Highly trained terrorists have begun using ambush tactics, grenades, and advanced weaponry, including M4 assault rifles, indicating a significant escalation in the threat level.

Ongoing anti-terror operations have forced militants into hiding in the mountains, where they wait for opportunities to target security forces.

The BSF remains committed to maintaining vigilance and safeguarding the region against infiltration and terrorist activities.
