India rebukes Pakistan’s ‘decisive response’ threat at UNGA, condemns cross-border terrorism

India delivered a powerful retort to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif‘s recent threats at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), categorically condemning Pakistan’s long-standing support for cross-border terrorism. Bhavika Mangalanandan, First Secretary at the Permanent Mission of India to the UN, did not hold back in her criticism, labeling Pakistan a “country run by the military” with a notorious global reputation for terrorism, narcotics trafficking, and transnational crime.

“This assembly regrettably witnessed a travesty this morning,” Mangalanandan stated, referring to Sharif’s inflammatory speech. “For a nation with such a sordid history to attack the world’s largest democracy is the height of hypocrisy.” She pointed out that Pakistan has wielded cross-border terrorism as a weapon against India, citing a litany of attacks, including an attack on Parliament, the Mumbai attacks, and attacks on marketplaces and pilgrimage routes.

Mangalanandan emphasized that India’s democratic process, especially in Jammu and Kashmir, has been persistently undermined by Pakistan’s actions, reiterating that dialogue is impossible until the terrorism emanating from Pakistan ceases. She highlighted Pakistan’s blatant human rights violations, noting its role in hosting terrorists, including Osama bin Laden, and its tragic history of genocide and ongoing persecution of minorities.

“It is absurd that a country that has committed such atrocities dares to lecture the world on tolerance and rights,” she asserted, further criticizing Pakistan’s attempts to propagate falsehoods on the international stage.

India’s response came in direct contradiction to Sharif’s threats of a “decisive response” to India’s military doctrines, which he alleged aimed to initiate conflict over Kashmir. Despite Sharif’s dramatic rhetoric, India pointed out that no world leader at the UNGA, including those from traditionally sympathetic countries, echoed his concerns about Kashmir, further isolating Pakistan on the international stage.

In a desperate bid for attention, Sharif attempted to link the Kashmir issue to the Palestinian cause, yet his efforts fell flat. India maintained its stance that peace can only be achieved through an end to terrorism, firmly rejecting any attempts by Pakistan to rewrite the narrative through a barrage of fabrications.

The message from India was clear: until Pakistan addresses its own support for terrorism, any claims of victimhood or calls for dialogue will continue to ring hollow.
